Successive failed rainy seasons in the Horn of Africa created the worst drought in four decades, decimating pastoral livestock and driving hundreds of thousands of people into displacement.

Hayat Welfare Trust engineered high-yield deep boreholes connected to elevated 30,000-liter storage reservoirs, distributing reliable clean water to human communities and livestock herds simultaneously.

Key Project Deliverables & Milestones

  • ✓ Drilled 8 high-capacity deep boreholes (180m+ depth) reaching pure aquifers
  • ✓ Installed industrial-grade solar pump systems with 25-year manufacturer warranties
  • ✓ Erected 30,000L elevated water storage tanks with multi-tap human distribution bays
  • ✓ Built dedicated livestock drinking troughs preserving hundreds of family herds
  • ✓ Formed local management water trusts for lasting community ownership
